The Systematic Skill Building position helps individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) acquire skills for community integration through evidence-based methods, and creates plans tailored to individual needs. The job requires a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Education or a Human Service field with 3+ years of experience or a Bachelor’s degree in another field with at least 3+ years of experience working with individuals with ASD, completion of required training, and professional technology skills.

 

 

Systematic Skill Building (SSB) position uses evidence-based methods to help the participant acquire skills that promote independence and integration into the community, which are not behavioral in focus. Systematic Skill Building staff (SSBs) create Systematic Skill Building Plans (SBPs) based on the needs, preferences and skill deficits of the individuals served. The SSB then teaches the individual, staff, family and others how to implement the SBPs.   People who provide other support such as Community Support, Supported Employment, Day Habilitation or Residential Habilitation are primarily responsible for implementation of the plan.

 

  • Must have Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Education, or a Human Service field related to Social Work, Psychology, Education or at least a Bachelor’s Degree in another field and 3 or more years’ experience (at least 20 hours a week) directly supporting individuals with ASD in the community.

 

  • Complete required training developed by BAS regarding Systematic Skill Building for people with ASD and other training required for this service.
