Success Stories
Hello, my name is Sophie. I am a funny, kind, and smart 28 year old who has Asperger's syndrome. I have been with Focus since they first started out in 2011. Focus is a service group who helps people like me become responsible adult, while at the same time allow us to make friends and have fun!
While being with Focus they have provided me with help and support. Some examples of what I have learned are cooking, cleaning my laundry, and budgeting my money. The staff were nice enough to let me work on my homework/classwork assignments from college. I graduated from H.A.A.C. with an associates degree in general studies. It was thanks to them that I was able to get volunteer opportunities and a good job.
My hope for the future is that Focus will continue to help me become more independent. I would like to be financially independent while moving into a place of my own. I hope that I can continue to make friends and hopefully a love interest. As they say nothing is impossible if you put your mind to it.
Sophie's Story
Andrew (my son) has received services from Focus Behavioral Health since 2012. At the time he was living alone in the community and working full time at an employer locally. He was in need of employment support, behavioral support services and community inclusion services. Focus provided exemplary staff that met the needs of Andrew and his extended family. No matter who they staffed his case with, they delivered exemplary, caring, supportive services to Andrew and his family, OFTEN going above and beyond providing additional services and support to meet his evolving needs. Focus realized that Andrew was part of a family system and went (repeatedly) above and beyond to meet the needs, even providing extensive emergency respite services. Andrew continues to receive services from Focus Behavioral Health and we continue to be amazed by the caliber of personnel employed.
Maryanne's Story
Focus has helped me getting through the loss of my father, grandfather, and my mom. They attended funerals with me. Focus has helped me get into different volunteering and meeting new friends. They work with me on exercising and to say positive things about myself. Focus is helping me work with budgeting and counting my money. Focus staff helped when I broke my arm and took me to physical therapy. When I get worked up focus staff helps me with coping skills and to stay calm. Focus has helped me with a lot more.
